Blog post 6

I felt this class was really helpful in me becoming more aware of the resources that are usually free and efficient aids to be applied in the classroom. I was particularly fond of the movie making experience and I felt that will be a fun method of teaching certain principles, while also giving students the opportunity to see such tools and use them in preparation for an exam or assignment. I overall liked the relatively easy feasibility with which teachers can come to make assignments for parents and the student support figures, and I think that will contribute a great deal to helping them be involved in the school scene.

In the future I do foresee myself using the jeopardy game and the movies, and I'm not sure if I'll be applying the twitter factor to my teaching methods, especially if it tends to trend downward... We'll see...

This class rocked!

I chose this video for a PWR PT Presentation...

I wasn't aware of the need for a youtube downloader in order to put a movie into a presentation, but I think this will certainly cut down on the distractions that come with having to load up a web browser, and it will make the whole process more streamlined as well. I've come to understand that videos from youtube can be used for educational purposes, and it's also important to give credit where it's certainly due, as in this case to Mr. Hsu. In as far as I understand what problems this could overcome? I imagine that as students are able to access the material I post on the website it will become much easier for parents to see what kind of learning is taking place as well.

Powerpoint games

I decided to make a Jeopardy game just because I didn't know what other game I could produce with Power Point. I found that the hardest part of this task was figuring out how to insert and connect the links. With about 16 boxes of questions it made the task a little involved as it took some time to make the appropriate connections. After a few minutes of getting used to it, I found that it wasn't hard at all to make the game. I feel that the application of power point in this sense is very practical to my subject area, and I know that it can help students be engaged and feel involved and have fun throughout the learning process.

Follow me on Twitter

This experience has allowed me to see technology through a new lens so to speak. I was able to create my own profile and fine people in my related field to follow within just a few minutes. I also found other family members who I will be able to keep in touch with much easier now. This application will also give me an opportunity to consider abstract/creative teaching methods when I follow other science related individuals. I also feel I could invite my students to participate in a learning process by following certain colleagues, and make them aware of discoveries that are taking place in the world around them.
